Media Production Lab

Location and Hours

The lab is at the ground level of the Lucy Scribner Library and is open for use whenever the library is open. Our Media Services staff is available to assist you:

Monday–Friday 8:00am–10:00pm, Sunday noon–10:00pm

The Media Production Lab consists of Apple computers, scanners, printers, CD-R/DVD-R burners and graphics software for the creation and manipulation of digital media. The computers are available on a self-service walk-in basis, with staff assistance available at most times. There is also a recording studio that can be reserved in advance for digital video editing and podcast creation. If you need specific assistance, we suggest you contact mediaservices@skidmore.edu and schedule an appointment.

• CD-RW burners (to create custom CD-ROMs)
• DVD-R burners (to create custom DVDs on Macintosh)
• Digital still cameras
• Digital video cameras (SD card)
• SmartCard and CompactFlash memory card readers
• Color Printing (laser prints to 11"x17" and large-format inkjet posters up to 52" wide) 

Software Available

• Apple Suite of Products - iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes, etc.
• Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat)
• Final Cut Studio (digital video editing)
• DVD Studio Pro HD
• Audacity
• Office365 (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
