Canadian Information

• Canadian Government Information - one stop site for the Candian government, includes links to publications, forms, maps and also has an easy to use search engine
  • Canadian Federal Government Databases accessible through the Internet (2005) - 3rd ed. of the bibliography of online Canadian federal government databases, lists 377 databases publicly accessible on Government of Canada Web sites. Some of these databases require user registration.
• Statistics Canada - links to many Canadian data sets, and infomation about the Candian census
• The Canadian Province of Ontario - site includes links to news, forms, FAQ's, and travel and tourism in Ontario
• The Canadian Province of Quebec - site includes good links for business, laws, road condtions, and two search engines

Reference Information

• Background Notes - Background Notes are brief informational reports on a country. These are also available in our Reference Collection (REF G 59 U5).
• World Factbook - prepared by the Central Intelligence Agency. Provides a simple map, and basic infomation on the geography, people, economy and government of every country in the world. The CIA World Factbook is available at our library in paper (REF G 122 W56), and Government Documents CD-ROM (PrEx 3.15/2:)
• Country Studies - prepared by the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress under the Country Studies/Area Handbook Program sponsored by the Department of the Army. Provides in depth information on a country focusing on history, culture, economy, and current national security situation. Approximately 100 countries are currently available online. The paper versions are available in our General Collection cataloged according to country.
• Dag Hammarskjold Library UNBISnet - search for UN publications, check voting records of member states, or find the text of speeches made in the General Assembly or Security Council since 1983
• United Nations System Pathfinder - a service of Dag Hammarskjold Library, to help identify UN publications
