Admissions Center
The Eissner Admissions
Center is located across North Broadway from the main campus.
It occupies a wood-frame house adjacent to the Surrey Williamson
Inn. Because of the building's proximity to the North Woods,
it is common to see deer grazing in the surrounding lawns.
Disability Access
The public portions of the building
are fully wheelchair-accessible, though some upstairs staff offices
are not accessible.
History
The center is named for Judith
Pick Eissner '64, an alumna and trustee from 1971 to 1995. She
chaired the board from 1982 to 1992, a time when Skidmore completed
its Celebration Campaign, opened several new academic buildings,
and increased its emphasis on diversity.
The center was first built around
1915 as the garage and chauffeur's residence for the Woodlawn Estate.
In the early 1970s, Skidmores converted the building into its
admissions center. In 1981, it was expanded and modernized to
accommodate the enlarged admissions staff and operations.
