Director KATIE GARDINER holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education (vocal emphasis and pedagogy emphasis) from the Hartt School of Music and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the Eastman School of Music.  Ms. Gardiner has studied conducting with Janet McGhee, William Weinert, and Brad Lubman and has performed in Master Classes with Robert Page, Simon Carringon, and Joseph Flummerfelt.  Prior to her debut at Skidmore in the fall of 2011, Ms. Gardiner sang in the professional ensemble “Voices” and had appearances conducting the Repertory Singers and Women’s Chorus at the Eastman School of Music. Ms. Gardiner has conducted the choirs at Williams College and the University at Albany and is in demand regionally as a guest conductor.  In addition to conducting the vocal ensembles and teaching a music theory course at Skidmore, Ms. Gardiner also conducts the Saratoga Youth Symphony: http://www.saratogayouthsymphony.com/.

A Connecticut native, Ms. Gardiner has resided in Vermont since 2007.
