Post-season tournament play ahead
Volleyball closed out its regular season with a 25-6 record after going 3-1 at the Skidmore Invitational this past weekend. Senior Mallory Mendelsohn (San Francisco, Calif.) and junior Corinne Palmer (Montvale, N.J.) were selected to the All-Tournament Team. Palmer totaled 68 kills and 15 blocks in the four matches, while Mendelsohn paced the offense with 169 total assists. Senior Sam Friedman (Los Angeles, Calif.) totaled 70 digs as she became just the third player in program history with 2,000 career digs. Skidmore will host Clarkson, Vassar, and RIT for the Liberty League tournament this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3. Skidmore meets RIT in the first game, at 5 p.m. Friday in the Williamson Sports Center.

No. 13 field hockey posted a pair of dominating wins over Hartwick and Geneseo this past week to wrap up the regular season. In an 8-1 victory over Hartwick, junior Kelly Blackhurst (North River, N.Y.) and Sam Skott (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) each tallied a pair of goals while freshman Dani DeGregory (Greenwich, N.Y.) finished with a goal and three assists. At last Saturday's regular-season finale, a 5-2 win over Geneseo, senior Ceilidh MacNeill (Framingham, Mass.) finished with two goals while Blackhurst added a goal and two assists. The Thoroughbreds finish the regular season at 13-4.
Women's soccer picked up a 1-0 victory over Nazareth in its final game after falling to RPI 2-0 on Wednesday. In the Nazareth win, freshman Erin Barry (Pittsfield, Mass.) scored and senior Michelle Finan (Richmond, Vt.) was crucial on both ends of the field as she set up the goal and also came up with a big defensive late save. The Thoroughbreds end the 2012 season with a 4-9-2 record.
Men's soccer fell to local rival Union in the final game of the season, missing out on the playoffs. Sophomore Adam Beek (Kingston, Jamaica) scored the lone goal in the 4-1 loss. Skidmore finishes the 2012 season with a 10-5-2 mark.
Men's and women's swimming and diving opened their seasons with meets at St. Lawrence
and Potsdam. For the women, senior diver Kristen Stearns (Torrington, Conn.) swept the 1-meter and 3-meter against both teams, while sophomore Catherine King (Wellesley, Mass.) won six times, including five individual events, and freshman Yookee Roh (Tenafly, N.J.) won five events. On the men's side, senior Jesse Adler (Chappaqua, N.Y.) won four events leading a very balanced attack, while sophomore
diver Jacob Nathan (Toledo, Ohio) swept the diving events for the weekend. Both teams travel to Vassar
