Blackhurst becomes all-time leading field hockey scorer

Kelly Blackhurst '14 became field hockey's all-time leading scorer with a pair of goals in Saturday's 5-1 win at Wheaton College. Blackhurst's 204 career points place her 23rd all-time in Division III scoring and second all-time among Liberty League players. She also scored the game-winning goal Sunday in the team's 3-2 overtime win against Babson. The team welcomes Liberty League foe RPI at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

A trio of freshman propelled women's soccer to its fourth straight victory Saturday. Kelly O'Donnell '17 and Emily Saliterman '17 each registered their first career goals, and Nicole Lorusso '17 recorded her first career assist in the team's 2-0 victory against SUNY Oneonta. In goal, Gab Lawrence '14 made one save in her third shutout of the season. The team has compiled a record of 4-0-1 this season and travels to SUNY Plattsburgh Saturday, Sept. 21 for a 1 p.m. contest.

Men's soccer extended its unbeaten streak to four with a 1-0-1 weekend. Adebare Oyeniyi '17 netted his first career goal and goalkeeper Derrick Yam '17 secured his first career win in 1-0 shutout against SUNY Potsdam Friday. On Saturday, the team battled to a 1-1 draw with SUNY New Paltz. Alex Hodor-Lee '14 scored the lone goal for the Thoroughbreds and Danny Ebenstein '16 made six saves in his first appearance between the pipes. Skidmore plays in its first Liberty League contest at home at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Men's golf captured the Tim Brown Invitational by eight strokes in its opening tournament of the fall schedule Sept. 7-8. Mackenzie Denver '16 and Tim Manwarning '16 led the way for the Thoroughbreds, placing third and fourth with scores of 72-78 -150 and 74-77 -151, respectively. The team returns to action Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Williams Invitational.

Aria Goodman '15 was named to the Union Invitational all-tournament team in volleyball. Goodman had six kills, five digs, an ace and a block in a 3-0 (16-25, 16-25, 11-25) loss against Williams College and she registered 15 kills, an ace, and five digs in a 3-1 (11-25, 25-23, 19-25, 17-25) setback against Oneonta State. The Thoroughbreds open conference play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, when they host Union College.

Men's tennis opened the 2013-14 season Sept. 14-15 at the Middlebury Invitational. Miles Ransom '15 and Gabe Steerman '14 led the way, advancing to the B Flight semifinals in doubles. The pair notched wins against a team from Wesleyan College and Trinity College, but was downed by the eventual tournament champions.  The team travels to Ithaca College for the ITA Regionals Sept. 20-22.

Women's tennis competed at the Lindsay Morehouse Invitational at Williams College. Rachel Plevinsky '14 went 3-0 in singles and in doubles Melissa Hirsch '14 and Madeline Benn '17 defeated top pairs from Middlebury College and Williams College.
