Spa City hosts Chowderfest Jan. 31
Chowderfest 2014
Get your spoons ready for Saturday, Jan. 31, when Skidmore's hometown of Saratoga Springs will host its 17th annual Chowderfest, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. The event, part of a weeklong Winterfest, celebrates the winter season, good food, and family fun.
This year, 90 establishments, a record number, will participate in Chowderfest. Each sample of chowder costs $1 and is paid directly to the vendor.
Visitors may pick up a ballot and vote for their favorite concoction. Valid ballots need five stickers from participating businesses and can be turned in to the Saratoga Springs Visitor Center, the Saratoga Springs City Center, or the Downtowner Motel. Winners will be announced at Saratoga Springs City Center at 6:30 p.m. For an additional $10, Chowderfest attendees can take home an official long-sleeve Chowderfest T-shirt with a completed ballot.
Local radio stations will provide music in various downtown locales and a number of bands will perform, including the Brian Patneaude Quartet, the Funky Dawgs Brass Band, Redneck Soul, and Minnie and the High Revival Gothics.
Chowderfest is coordinated by the Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau and presented by KeyBank. For more information and the day's schedule, click here.
