Annual Flurry Festival dances into town again

It’s time to shake off the winter blues at the 28th annual Dance Flurry festival, Feb. 13–15, in downtown Saratoga Springs. The Flurry is well known among dancers and music lovers of all ages and features more than 400 performers and 250 events.
Festival headquarters are located in the Saratoga Springs City Center and Saratoga Hilton Hotel, with performances and workshops scheduled at Saratoga Music Hall, Caffe Lena, and the Parting Glass pub, with a special Saturday night concert at the Putnam Den. Events will include programs for families with young children, new programs for teens and all age groups, and non-stop swing and contra dancing, jamming, music instruction, storytelling, and more.
The agenda includes international music and dance experiences, as well as waltzing, tangos, salsas, and a sprinkle of disco, techno contra, Scottish tea dances, and English country dances, There will be Balkan dance with world-renowned instructors Steven Kotensky and Cherven Traktor, Zydeco and Creole dance parties, drumming and singing celebrations, and African and urban drumming and dance performances. Music workshops include ukulele, blues guitar, harmonica, and other instruments.
Tickets are available at the door all weekend. There are weekend passes and day passes, with special discounts for students, children, military personnel, and seniors.
