Paving the way

May 15, 2015

Skidmore’s Class of 2015 Parents Fund, through which the families of graduating seniors support Skidmore students and programs for the future, set a new record by raising more than $823,000.

That grand total—with hundreds of parents, grandparents, and other family members contributing—allowed inscribed bricks for every single senior to be placed in the patio near Case Center. At the gift-presentation ceremony on Friday, May 15, parents and students from the graduating class had fun finding their named bricks and taking selfies with them.

This year’s project chairs—Kim Wachenheim Wagman ’88 and David Wagman, parents of Kyle ’15—worked with a large committee to shepherd the effort. While families were free to direct their dollars to any cause at Skidmore, many donated to the project’s two main programs: Class of 2015 Scholarships to aid students in the coming academic year, and sustainability initiatives that range from geothermal energy to campus-grown food to waste recycling.
