Chamber Music Institute concert series

Chamber Music Institute concert series

July 1, 2016

From the Saratoga Hospital Nursing Home to the Hyde Collection in Glens Falls, and from Skidmore's Tang Museum to its Zankel Music Center, this summer's Skidmore Chamber Music Institute, led by the Decoda ensemble, will spread music across the community.

The acclaimed New York City-based Decoda comprises alumni of Ensemble ACJW, whose members are fellows of the Academy, a program of Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute. ACJW has been conducting spring and fall residencies at Skidmore for nearly 10 years.

Members of Decoda will be in residence at Skidmore July 10–23, teaching 30 young musicians who came from around the country and as far away as Mexico and China. Decoda is dedicated to developing new generations of musicians, helping them not just excel but also learn the role of the artist in society. Toward that end, the Decoda artists will help the institute participants learn how to engage audiences through interactive performance and improve their own music and speaking skills. Community performances will take place at Prestwick Chase, SaratogaArts, the Hyde Collection and Saratoga Hospital, as well as at Skidmore.
