Any Giving Tuesday

December 7, 2016

Black Friday. Cyber Monday. The shop-till-you-drop phenomenon in American culture is alive and well.

But on November 29 Skidmore joined a growing movement to shed the consumerist mindset for at least one day. On Giving Tuesday the College asked alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and the community to go "all in for Skidmore" with a 24-hour giving challenge to support the Skidmore Fund.

And did they ever.

The Skidmore community responded by blowing past the goal of 750 donors and reaching 987 gifts by day's end. Funds totaling $347,546 were raised to support key initiatives from financial aid to internships to sustainability and wellness. The event was also included in a recap of “The Greatest #Giving Tuesday Campaigns of 2016” by Evertrue as a top showing among colleges and universities nationwide.

In the “all in” spirit, Skidmore hosted an on-campus event that generated nearly 100 gifts and a daylong live-stream broadcast featuring many favorite faculty, students, sports teams and performers. If you missed it, tune back in to any of the video segments here:

Skidmore thanks everyone who made Giving Tuesday a huge success and went all in with support for the College’s programs and mission.
