Ron Seyb, Joseph C. Palamountain Jr. Professor of Government, will present the Jon Ramsey Honors Forum Lecture at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Gannett Auditorium, Palamountain Hall. Admission is free and open to all.

Author Zadie Smith, one of the most celebrated young writers in the English-speaking world, will present Skidmore's Frances Steloff Lecture, titled "The Writer in the World," on Thursday, Dec. 6, at Skidmore. Free and open to the public, the lecture/reading will begin at 8 p.m. in Gannett Auditorium of Palamountain Hall.

Author Jonathan Gottschall will discuss "The Storytelling Animal" on Wednesday, Nov. 14, on campus. Free and open to the public, his talk will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Gannett Auditorium, Palamountain Hall. Light refreshments will be served.

Controversial author Peter Beinart will be on campus Nov. 8 as this fall's featured Jacob Perlow lecturer.

Joshua Aronson, associate professor of applied psychology at New York University, will discuss "Stereotype Threat and Its Implications for Colleges and College Students" in a talk scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5. Free and open to the public, the discussion will take place in Gannett Auditorium, Palamountain Hall. A reception will follow.

The Nobel Peace Prize-winning European Union will be the focus of a two-day workshop scheduled Thursday and Friday, Nov. 1 and 2, at Skidmore College.

kidmore will tap the expertise and experience of four of its trustees for a special panel discussion on volunteerism and civic responsibility on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. in Gannett Auditorium.

DNAWORKS, an arts and service organization in residence on campus this month, will present two public events: Hip Hop: Theatre of Now, an interactive lecture-demo, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in Gannett Auditorium, Palamountain Hall. HaMapah/The Map, a multimedia dance journey tracing the intersections of African, American, and Jewish heritages, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, in the Skidmore Dance Theater.

Science, policy, and wildlife conservation will be among the topics of discussion when Jamie Rappaport Clark, president and CEO of Defenders of Wildlife, visits Skidmore this week.

History major Becca Gilligan organized a panel discussion of area World War II veterans as a project in the Social Work course called "Community Engagement." The veterans and students who recorded the vets' oral histories will share their stories in a special public program April 25.
