There were 125 entries submitted this year, with fall being a predominant theme, says Liz Katzman, Skidmore webmaster, who has coordinated the event annually since 2007. Fall was a key element in two of the three winners.

Katzman said that the Judges Vote winner, "21 Candles" by Sarah Weitzman '14, made the judges think and talk. "This photo is very open to interpretation," explained Katzman. "Is it a birthday celebration or a memorial? We don't know. It made us question the photographer's intent."

Judges were Emma Dodge Hanson '93 and Phil Scalia, both professional photographers, and Melissa Cohn and Lauren Elzner, both Class of 2013 and co-presidents of the Skidmore Photography Club.

This year's Facebook Fan Favorite, "Autumn at Skidmore" by Morgan Gruer '16, garnered 644 votes. Katzman noted that there was a lot of activity from the Facebook front, with efforts made by students to reach out and encourage voting from all quarters. 

All winners will receive a $250 cash prize. All photographs will become property of the Skidmore Communications Office and may be used on the web or in College publications in the future. A selected number of entries will be used in the new CTM Photo Gallery, to debut in January in Murray-Aikins Dining Hall.
