One of the best ways of making the transition to college life is through participation in one of the many Pre-Orientation Programs that Skidmore offers first-year students. Whether its hiking in the Adirondacks, creating sculpture or doing community service, there are many ways to meet students with similar interests and goals. Participation in Pre-O is optional, and takes place just before Orientation for all first-year students.
A limited number of scholarships are available for high-need students on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning in mid-April. Students may receive 50% to 100% off the program fee. If you would like to apply for a pre-orientation program scholarship, simply send your request as an email message to Mary Ann Toia, mtoia@skidmore.edu with the subject being Pre-O Scholarship request. Please include your student's name and program request with a phone number and email address. You will be notified of your scholarship award by the end of May.

All First Year Students attending a Pre-O will need to be back on campus between 8:30am and 10:00am on 8/28/13 to check into their assigned housing (which will be their housing for the year). Off-Campus Pre-O's will check in at 8:30 am and On-Campus Pre-O's will check in at 10:00am. There will be an Orientation Program for all parents on the 28th and most parents do not see it necessary to come back on the 31st for Orientation due to the fact these opening days mimick eachother. NO FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED TO CHECK IN PRIOR TO WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28TH 2013.
