SCOOP Coordinator 2012

"SCOOP is a great way to meet new Skiddies who love the outdoors! Make s'mores, learn some ghost stories, sing, dance and get over pre-college nerves! This is an excellent trip with incredible people. I absolutely loved my group and can't wait to go back!

"With all the nerves and anticipation, SCOOP was the prefect way to kick off freshman year. In such a short time you make memories and friends that will last you a lifetime. The entire experience was amazing, whether it was sitting out by a lake at the end of the of the day or just getting to know folks as you hike the trail. I'm so glad I did SCOOP my freshman year and I'm pumped to come back!"

"SCOOP was the greatest way to make friends and have fun before even going to school. I met some of my favorite Skidmore people on SCOOP and I loved every second of it."

"I was really nervous before coming to Skidmore and the transition to college seemed like a daunting change. But being on SCOOP pushed me to make friends and branch out. I don't think the transition would have been as smooth without SCOOP. I am still really close with the friends I made. I'm so happy I made the decision to partake in SCOOP!"

"My experience with SCOOP has helped ease my transition to Skidmore. It's really great that students are given this opportunity to connect to nature and the region in which they will be living. I'm still close with a lot of the people I met while on SCOOP. The entire experience has been a welcoming and inviting one for me in so many ways."

Scoop is a great way to start off your Skidmore career. Spending a few days in the wilderness with a bunch of friendly, like-minded people makes the whole process of going to school a lot less daunting, and the friends you'll make will be some of your closest. My time on Scoop was some of the most fun I had all year, and I'm very excited to be going back!

I can't think of a better way to kick off college than SCOOP.  It's a bunch of incoming freshmen who get outdoors, relax, and enjoy each other's company for four days.  I wasn't even nervous when I arrived at Skidmore because SCOOP gave me the confidence I needed to make friends and start things right.

SCOOP was such an awesome way to make friends even before I started Skidmore!  Everyone really bonds out in the wild!  It made me so much more confident when orientation started because I already had close friends to hang out with at school!  One of my best friends at Skidmore is someone who was in my group at SCOOP.  It is definitely a great opportunity you don't want to miss out on!  Come join us in the Adirondack's for lots of fun!!!

Without Scoop the first few days of college would have been terifying.  But instead I walk onto the campus after three days of making new friends and meeting new people.  You got to sing dance and make a fool of yourself with about a hundred unknown people.  I love my group and my leader and I can't wait to do it again.

There is not a better way to start freshman year than going on SCOOP! I know that I was nervous at the start of my first semester, but SCOOP was a great way to meet awesome new freshman while enjoying the outdoors. The people you meet and the experiences you have on SCOOP will stick with you throughout your years at Skidmore and will shape the amazing time you will have here.
