Scribner Village (South Quad)
Scribner Village is one of six South Quad areas at Skidmore College.
History
Scribner Village opened in 1973 and was designed to bring together the independence of apartment living with the convenience of on-campus residences. Each of the 15 buildings in this complex are named for either the native trees of the Northeastern United States or in honor of influential members of the Skidmore community.
Amenities
- Laundry room with six washers and six dryers (rooms are located adjacent to Maple A and Ross D)
- Kitchen with a refrigerator, sink, stove/oven, dishwasher, and fire extinguisher (one per apartment)
- Back porch (one per apartment)
- Bikes may be stored on apartment back porches (the college assumes no responsibility for missing or damaged bikes)
- VACATION AREA: Scribner Village is a vacation area; residents are allowed to remain in their apartments during College vacations (with the exception of summer vacation) with approval from the Office of Residential Life.
Room Furnishings
Bedrooms are furnished with the following items upon move in:
- Desk
- Desk chair
- Closets (some rooms may have a wardrobe in place of closet)
- Dresser
- Twin extra long bed
- Modem box with cable and internet connections (one internet port per student, and one cable and phone port per room)
Apartment Furnishings
Apartments are furnished with the following items upon move in:
- Dining room - table and four-seven chairs
- Living room - sofa, loveseat, chair, coffee table, end table, and TV stand
- Cable hookup and phone port in the living room
- Closet
Apartment Style
The Scribner Village apartments consists of 55 apartments of six different types with varying layouts. The six types are as follows:
- 4 person with 4 single bedrooms and 1 bathroom
- 4 person with 2 single bedrooms, 1 double bedroom and 1 bathroom
- 5 person with 5 single bedrooms and 1 bathroom
- 5 person with 3 single bedrooms, 1 double bedroom and 1 bathroom
- 6 person with 6 single bedrooms and 2 bathrooms
- 7 person with 7 single bedrooms and 2 bathrooms
