Skidmore Retirees

Stella Clark

Stella Clark, former member of the business affairs staff, died June 23, 2004, in Northumberland, N.Y.

Stella joined Skidmore’s staff in 1962 -- first as an administrative assistant and coordinator of summer program, and later as director of office services and of the campus post office. The Skidmore Shop’s former director, Barbara Miller Heron, recalled, “Stella took people under her wing -- including students and colleagues. She went above and beyond the call of duty to make people feel welcome, and worked hard to meet the needs of all she worked with.” Karl Broekhuizen, former vice president for business affairs, added, “Everything she did was to provide the Skidmore community with the best experience possible.”

Stella retired in 1986.

Her husband, Robert, predeceased her. Her survivors included two daughters, several grandchildren, and cousins.
