Science /Mathematics Scholarships
Skidmore Scholars in Science and Mathematics

In addition to the Porter Scholarship, Skidmore also has the Skidmore Scholars in Science and Mathematics program (S3M). The College annually identifies up to eight S3M scholars with demonstrated financial need who exhibit a passion for and exceptional promise in science and/or math. The program promotes diversity by encouraging traditionally underrepresented groups in the STEM disciplines, including first-generation college students, to pursue a course of study as well as careers in science and math.

S3M Scholars receive financial-aid packages with no loan component in the first two years and with reduced loans in years three and four. Scholars also participate in a five-week summer program after their first year that includes hands-on research and an academic program.

There is no formal application process for the S3M Scholarship. Candidates are selected through the admissions application process on the strength of their high school academic performance, especially in science and math; a solid GPA; strongly supportive letters from science/math teachers, and evidence of passion for science and/or math. A faculty committee selects awardees from the applicant pool each spring, and informs them of their selection with their decision letter in late March.

For questions about the S3M Scholarship, contact Assistant Professor of Mathematics Rebecca Trousil at 518-580-5285 or rtrousil@skidmore.edu. You may also contact Admissions at admissions@skidmore.edu or 800-867-6007, or Financial Aid at finaid@skidmore.edu or 518-580-5750.
