What is ACA?

Asian Cultural Awareness(ACA) is a student organization at Skidmore College. Our purpose is to "offer a platform on which we share our unique cultural backgrounds and engage in educating ourselves about each other. We commit to developing familiarity, understanding, and appreciation of Asian cultures within our school and extending beyond our school." ACA is a cultural organization among the few at the Skidmore campus which promotes understanding and diversity among not only Asians but people of all walks of life and backgrounds. We do not discrimate and thus we welcome anyone who is interested in our purpose to join us.

From our president-

"ACA, along with other cultural clubs on campus, plays a very important role in carrying out the implemented plan to diversify our college community. Cultural clubs spread awareness in the Skidmore community by offering a platform on which we share our unique cultural backgrounds and engage in educating ourselves about each other. Asian Cultural Awareness provides Skidmore College with an organization that extends itself to all students and faculty interested in learning about Asian cultures and identities. We commit to developing familiarity, understanding, and appreciation of Asian cultures within our school and extending beyond our school. To do so, we essentially need to obtain and maintain an outstanding network between the Skidmore community, outside supporters, and the members of ACA.

"Presidents of ACA, both past and present, share this pleasure and honor in inviting all students to join our ambitious movement towards ethnic understanding and appreciation."

~ Audrey Kim Ngeow , ACA President 2006
