The Skidmore College Alpine Ski Team is a member of the Adirondack Conference of the USCSA; other conference members include: Clarkson, Colgate, Hamilton, RPI, UAlbany, and the West Point Military Academy.
We have five races from the middle of January to the end of February at Toggenberg, Labrador, Whiteface, Windham and West, our home area.
Tryouts are held in December, and skiers of all abilities are encouraged to tryout. The team will train at Stratton Mtn. in Vermont for a week in January just prior to the Spring semester.The past year was very successful for both the male and female skiers. The whole team qualified for regional competition and with strong recruiting for '08-'09 the goal is to qualify for Nationals in Colorado.

Prior to ski season in the fall we hold dryland practice 2 nights a week. These consist of basic conditioning and strength trainng and an occasional soccer game. In season, we practice 2 nights week at West Mountain which is 15 minutes from the Skidmore campus. It is an excellent venue for both SL and GS training.
The Adirondack League sponsors 5 races throughout the winter season consisting of organized slalom and giant slalom events.
The Skidmore Ski Team is a member and governed by the rules of the United States Collegiate Ski Assoc. (USCSA) http://www.uscsa.com
Our race team roster is limited to 10 women and 10 men each season and all racers are partially funded by a budget from the Student Gov't Assoc. All races take place at the beginning of each spring semester for 5 consecutive weekends. For those who qualify, the Eastern Regional and the USCSA Nationals competition is offered to all member schools of the USCSA.
The USCSA Regionals will be held at West Mountain this year on February 21-22..
