Our Mission: Skidmore College Student Speaker’s Bureau provides guidance to student clubs and organizations in the planning, organizing, and publicizing of lectures. The Student Speaker’s Bureau provides funds, when needed, to student clubs and organizations for the purpose of bringing speakers to Skidmore. If funds allow, the Student Speaker’s Bureau provides its own speaker(s), which must be of interest to a majority of the Skidmore student body.

Want to Request a Speaker?
- A proposal may be brought to the Bureau by either a student club or organization
or a member of the Bureau.
- A proposal may be submitted to the Bureau in one of two ways:
- Fill out the internet form HERE
- Pick up a proposal form outside of Leadership Activities (3rd floor of Case)
and send through intercampus mail to the Bureau’s Chair, Erin Anderson
'09.
- Clubs and organizations are encouraged to submit proposals at least three
weeks in advance to allow time for adequate planning and publicizing.
- Once a proposal is received, the club or organization will be contacted by
the Chair and a meeting with the Bureau will be scheduled.
-After your event has taken place, complete a follow-up form which can be done via the website or through intercampus mail
-Remember that the lecture must be open to the entire Skidmore community!
Criteria to keep in mind when proposing to the Bureau:
What is the value of this lecture to the Skidmore community?
How does this speaker’s message relate to the goal of a liberal arts education?
Who will this event attract? How many people will attend? Are we trying to attract
students? Faculty? Townspeople?
How much planning have we put into this?
Once a club or organization is granted funds, they must:
