Elana Herzog Installation Class 2011
Skidmore Summer Art Teachers Fellowship Program
Summer 2014 Session Dates
June 30 – August 1, 2014
This competitive program for high school art teachers provides on-campus housing,
studio space, and opportunities for intensive independent study from June 30 through
August 1, 2014.
The Art Fellows Program aims to advance the education of young artists by providing their teachers with a summer opportunity to work intensively as artists and to be refueled by a vibrant and interactive summer arts community. Skidmore College offers the Art Fellows a chance to become immersed in their own studio art practice - in Painting, Drawing, Ceramics, or Sculpture - while being part of the larger liberal arts experience on Skidmore’s dynamic summer campus, benefiting not only them, but also ultimately their students.
High School Art Teachers Fellowships are offered to 4 high school art teachers from across the United States. The chosen participants are provided with FREE room and board as well as shared studio space. The five-week Art Fellows program is open to high school teachers who have been teaching studio art for three or more years. Art Fellows are assigned a space within a large shared open studio. Critiques from Summer Art Faculty are available if requested. There will be many opportunities to share ideas and information through planned social activities and the Summer Studio Art Program’s visiting artists’ lectures and events.
To help defray costs we ask that the school of the accepted art fellow contribute $250 to the program. All lab fees (ranging from $75 to $100, depending on the discipline) are to be paid by the accepted candidate. A $40 non-refundable application fee is required at the time of application to the Fellows program.
Though we are not able to accept applications from previous Fellows, alums from previous
years are warmly welcomed back to the Skidmore summer community through opportunities
to register for a wide variety of summer art classes.
For more information, or if you have questions, please contact Katie DeGroot, Director of the Summer Studio Art Program at 518-580-5084.
