If you will editing images frequently, you should
purchase either Adobe Photoshop or Macromedia
Fireworks.
Photoshop is better for general image editing,
including those that will be used in print publications
or PowerPoint presentations. Fireworks is optimized
specifically for the Web, and therefore is less
useful for images that will be used outside of the
Web. If your primary goal is to create good-looking
Web pages, use Fireworks.
If you have many text documents (Word, Pagemaker,
Quark, etc.) that you wish to present on the Web
and maintain their print layout, you should
purchase a copy of Adobe Acrobat. This will
enable you to create PDF files for installation
on your Web site.
If you will be doing these activities infrequently,
you can use these programs at a variety of campus
locations, including CITS Media Services, located
in Palamountain Hall. Contact the CITS
Help Desk if you desire your own copies. They
will check the adequacy of your machine to run these
programs and advise you on how to obtain copies.
