History of the Center
In the Spring of 2003, the Center for Sex and Gender Relations opened. The original concept for the Center was to develop a safe haven where students could go to report sexual assault incidents. Today, the Center has become a confidential space where all students can visit to gather information about safer sex practices, purchase condoms, look at various resources regarding sexuality and gender, or hold discussions about sexual relationship issues.
The Center is a student-driven initiative operated by a group of peer advocates, under the guidance of Administrative Advisers. Since its inception, the Center has continued to expand its scope of activities.
The Center will keep moving forward in building a solid foundation for its programs by working with students, faculty, and staff to educate and support the relationships between and among Skidmore's students.
