Welcome to the
Anthropology Study Abroad Page

Skidmore's Anthropology Program encourages students to incorporare study abroad in their anthropology major. Anthropology students are well-prepared for cross-cultural study abroad experiences, as they have studied the customs, traditions, values, and life of different cultures in the classroom. Studying abroad is akin to doing anthropological fieldwork in that students are immersed within another culture and must learn to understand their surroundings in order to succeed. Many of the approved anthropology programs offer students opportunities to engage in language training, participate in home stays, and complete field-based independent study projects. Students also participate in archaeological study abroad or summer programs, visiting and working in well-known sites around the world.

Students desiring anthropology credit for study abroad should consult with Professor Michael C.
