October 31
WOMEN'S SOCCER WINS FINAL, 3-0

The Skidmore College women's soccer team finished its season with a 3-0 home win over New Paltz. Morgan Cadwell, Cari Dugan, and Aimee Marceau scored for the Thoroughbreds. Kristin Alphin did not have to make a save for the shutout. Skidmore completes the season with a 6-7-1 record.

SKIDMORE SENIORS SELECTED FOR FIELD HOCKEY ALL-STAR GAME

Skidmore College senior field hockey players Colleen Barber (Fort Ann, NY/Fort Ann Central) and Carrie Caunter (Warrensburg, NY/Warrensburg) have been selected to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III North/South All-Star game on Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa.

Barber, a two-time All-America, leads Skidmore in scoring this season with 13 goals and a school-record 20 assists for 46 points. She is also the national Division III assist leader and holds Skidmore’s career assist mark with 50.
In addition to her national honors, Barber is a three-time Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association All-Star and three-time UCAA All-Academic selection.
Barber is a two-time Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association All-Star and is a two-time first team All American.

Caunter has two goals and seven assists for a total of 11 points this season, giving her 32 points for her career. Caunter is a two-time UCAA All-Star and a three-time UCAA All-Academic selection.

Skidmore, ranked ninth nationally, is 13-3 record. The team ends its regular season at home Sunday at 2 p.m. against Ithaca College. Skidmore will face St. Lawrence University in the UCAA semifinals on November 8 at William Smith College on Nov. 8-9.

WOMEN'S TENNIS PLACES SECOND IN NYSWCAA TOURNAMENt

The Skidmore College women's tennis team finished second with 40 points in the 16-team New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association tournament played at Cornell University. Vassar was first with 60 points, while NYU was third with 30 points.

The doubles team of Gabrielle Rosenthal and Christine Gale won the number three doubles title, while Maddie Pauli finished second at number three singles. The number one doubles team of Heather Fuleihan and Whitney Dolan also finished second.

VOLLEYBALL WINS SKIDMORE INVITE

The Skidmore College volleyball team swept past Rutgers-Newark (3-0) and Union College (3-0) to win the Skidmore Invitational Tournament. The Union win was the 200th for Thoroughbred coach Hilda Arrechea. Erin Black was tournament MVP, while Courtney Lambert and Shanley Irving were also selected to the all-tournament team. Skidmore is 18-16.

WILLIAM SMITH WINS UCAA FIELD HOCKEY TITLE IN OT

Sophie Dennis scored 2:01 into the first overtime to give William Smith a 1-0 win over Skidmore and the UCAA regular-season title. the loss snaps a 12-game Skidmore win streak. The Thoroughbreds (13-2) close out the regularp-season this week at Williams on Tuesday and at home against Ithaca on Saturday at 2 p.m. Skidmore will travel to William Smith for the UCAA Tournament Nov. 8-9. The Thoroughbreds will play St. L awrence in the first round.

MEN'S SOCCER TIES HOBART, 0-0

The Skidmore College men’s soccer team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 0-0 overtime tie Saturday against Hobart College. The Thoroughbreds are 8-6-2 overall and 2-2-2 in UCAA play with one conference game to play.

Rollie Kielman had seven saves in goal for Skidmore, while Carl Fried had eight saves for Hobart (11-5-1, 4-2-1 UCAA).

The Thoroughbreds are at Springfield on Wednesday, before finishing the regular season at home Nov. 1 against Union.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING BEATS POTSDAM

The Skidmore College women's swimming and diving team beat Potsdam 133-81, while the men lost 129-78, Saturday afternoon at Skidmore. Line Dorset won the 100-butterfly (1:05.69) and the 200-free (2:10.95) and Lisa Kranz won the 3 and 1-meter diving events for the Thoroughbreds. Mark Fraiden won the 100-back for the men (1:08.2j

MEN'S SOCCER BATTLES 25th RANKED HAMILTON TO 1-1 TIE

The Skidmore College men’s soccer team moved a step closer to the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association playoffs with a 1-1 tie against 25th ranked Hamilton College Friday at Skidmore Stadium.

Michael Grazewski put Skidmore on top just 33 seconds into the game on a pass from Will Mudge. Hamilton tied it on Mike Galente’s free kick at 15:43.

Neither team could convert scoring opportunities throughout the rest of regulation and overtime.

Rollie Kielman had 10 saves, including five in the overtimes for Skidmore (8-6-1, 2-2-1 UCAA), while Greg Zalasky and Anthony Tripicchio had three saves each for Hamilton (9-2-1, 4-1-1 UCAA).

October 21
NAVENTI EARNS UCAA AWARD

Skidmore College men's soccer player Matt Naventi earned the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Offensive Performer of the Week award for the week ending Oct. 19.

Naventi, a senior from Lee, MA, had three goals in two overtime wins. He scored both goals, including the overtime goal in a 2-1 win over Castleton. Naventi also forced overtime with his goal in a 2-1 win against New Paltz.

Skidmore is 8-6 and will host Hamilton College on Oct. 24 at 4 p.m.

October 18
FIELD HOCKEY WINS AGAIN

Hallory Mogren scored two goals to lead the Skidmore College field hockey team to a 3-0 road win over Nazareth College. The four points push Mogren over the 100-point career mark. She now has 103 career points. Annie Ledyard also scored for the Thoroughbreds (12-1). Jenna Spackman had one save for the shutout.

MEN'S SOCCER WINS FOURTH OT GAME OF THE SEASON
Michael Grazewski headed home Tony Aniello’s pass with 5:35 to play in the second overtime, to give the Skidmore College men’s soccer team a 2-1 win over New Paltz.

Joe Fabian opened the scoring for New Paltz off a rebound at 34:59. Matt Naventi tied it from Will Mudge at 64:52 to force overtime.

Skidmore (8-6) has won four overtime games this season.

Rollie Kielman had five saves for the Thoroughbreds, while Brendan Morris had eight saves for New Paltz (4-7-2). Skidmore will host Hamilton on Friday at 4 p.m.

October 15
MEN'S SOCCER WINS IN OT

Matt Naventi scored his second goal of the game just under two minutes into the first overtime to lead the Skidmore College men’s soccer team to a 2-1 overtime win over Castleton State.

Naventi opened the scoring at the 8:42 mark with his first goal of the game. Luke Laroche tied it for Castleton at 44:12.

Rollie Kielman and Mike D’Aleo combined for six saves for Skidmore (7-6), while Joel Leichtnam had six saves for Castleton (6-8)

October 14
VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS SWEEP UCAA AWARDS

Skidmore College volleyball players Erin Black and Darryl Manzer earned Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association awards for the week ending Oct. 12.

Black, a sophomore outside hitter, was the UCAA Performer of the Week after leading the Thoroughbreds to a 4-0 sweep and the championship of the Union College Invitational. She had 85 kills, 57 digs, and 10 aces in the four matches.

Manzer was the UCAA Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. She was named to the Union Invitational All-Tournament team with 52 kills, a .302 hitting percentage and 15 blocks.
Skidmore is 15-15 and will host Williams College on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.

October 12
VASSAR CLAIMS UCAA WOMEN'S TENNIS TITLE, 5-1

Geneva, N.Y.--The Skidmore College women's tennis team lost 5-1 to Vassar College in the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association championship match played at William Smith College. The Thoroughbred doubles team of Christine Gale and Gabrielle Rosenthal won at number three doubles. 9-7. Skidmore will close out the fall season at the NYSWCAA Tournament October 24-26.

October 11
FIELD HOCKEY HOLDS OFF ST. LAWRENCE, 4-3

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.—Annie Ledyard tipped-in Hallory Mogren’s shot off a penalty corner with 1:45 to play to give the Skidmore College field hockey team a 4-3 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association win over St. Lawrence University.
Skidmore jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead on goals by Colleen Barber, Mogren and Katie Weber.

The Saints battled back in the second-half to tie it on a pair of goals by Erin Lloyd and a goal by Abigail Copeland.

The Thoroughbreds held off St. Lawrence in the final minutes, setting-up Ledyard’s game-winner.

Sarah Rohrs had 12 saves in relief for the Saints (6-4, 3-2 UCAA), while Jenna Spackman had three saves for Skidmore (10-1, 5-0 UCAA).

The Thoroughbreds, ranked eighth nationally, are at Hartwick on Wednesday.

WOMEN'S SOCCER WINS 2-0

The Skidmore College women’s soccer team shutout Vassar College, 2-0 in an Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association contest Saturday night.

Faleesha Higgins and Morgan Cadwell scored for the Thoroughbreds (5-4-1, 1-3 UCAA), while Kristin Alphin had eight saves for the shutout.

Alice England had five saves for Vassar (1-9, 0-5 UCAA). Skidmore is at Union on Friday.

VOLLEYBALL WINS UNION INVITE

The Skidmore College volleyball team continued its hot play by winning the Union College Invitational on Saturday. The Thoroughbreds beat Union 3-0 and Hunter 3-0 in Saturday's play. Erin Black was Tournament MVP and Courtney Lambert also made the All-Tournament Team. Skidmore is now 15-15.

October 10
SKIDMORE FIELD HOCKEY RIPS HAMILTON, 8-0

Senior All-America Colleen Barber (Fort Ann, N.Y./Fort Ann) scored two goals and had three assists to lead the Skidmore College field hockey team to an 8-0 win over Hamilton College, Friday.

Annie Ledyard added two goals and Carrie Caunter (Warrensburg, N.Y./Warrensburg), Hallory Mogren, Victoria Davis, and Erin Walters-Bugsbee all had solo goals for the Thoroughbreds.

Jenna Spackman did not have to make a save for her sixth shutout of the season.

Skidmore, ranked eighth nationally, improves to 4-0 in the UCAA and 9-1 overall. Hamilton falls to 0-4 and 1-8.

MEN'S SOCCER BEATS RPI, 2-0

Will Mudge converted a penalty kick at 38:44 and Matt Naventi scored from Casey Vollinger at 44:51 to lead the Skidmore College men's soccer team to a 2-0 UCAA road win at RPI. Rollie Kielman had seven saves for the shutout. Skidmore improved to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in UCAA play. The Thoroughbreds are at Vassar on Saturday.

WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO RPI, 1-0

Laura Feeney's goal eight minutes in was all RPI need to post a 1-0 UCAA win over Skidmore. Regina Primm stopped all four shots she faced for the Red Hawks. Kristin Alphin had five saves for the Thoroughbreds. Skidmore (4-4-1, 0-3 UCAA) will host Vassar on Saturday at 5 p.m.

October 5
SKIDMORE GOLFERS WIN ECAC III CHAMPIONSHIP

The Skidmore College golf team shot a second-round 305 to win its third straight Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championship, Sunday at the Saratoga Spa State Park Championship Course.

The Thoroughbreds finished with a 36-hole total of 619 to finish 15 strokes ahead of second-place University of Rochester. New York University and St. Lawrence tied for third with 639. There were 18 teams and four individuals competing.

Skidmore’s Ross Morgan took medalist honors with 75-76—151. Bryan Rosatti (76-76—152) of Pitt-Greensburg and Kyle Rank (77-75—152) of St. Lawrence tied for second at 152.

Also for the Thoroughbreds, Case Button tied for sixth with 82-73—155, Stuart Drahota tied for 11th with 80-76—156, and Mike Stiller tied for 15th with 77-81—158.

Skidmore, ranked 13th nationally, will close out the fall season Oct. 25-26 at the Ocean City (Md.) Collegiate Classic.

October 4
SKIDMORE GOLFERS TAKE ECAC III CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST ROUND LEAD

Saratoga Springs, N.Y.— The Skidmore College golf team battled a cold, steady rain to take the first round lead in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III championships at the Saratoga Spa State Park Course. The tournament concludes on Sunday.

The two-time defending champions shot an opening round 314, to move two strokes ahead of second-place Western New England. Rochester is third with 318 and NYU is fourth with 321. There are 18 teams and four individuals competing in the 36-hole event.

Rochester’s Jason Bronstein and Bryan Harmon of Williams are tied for first at 74. Skidmore’s Ross Morgan is third at 75.

Also for the Thoroughbreds, Mike Stiller is tied for fifth with 77, Stuart Drahota is tied for 20th with 80, and Case Button is tied for 38th with 82.

Sunday’s play begins at 8 a.m., with Skidmore starting from the first tee at 9:28 a.m.
