Support The NYS Summer Young Writers Institute
The New York State Summer Young Writers Institute brings top-notch high school writers from all over the United States to Skidmore College for an intense week of literary creativity each year. Participants in the Institute are mentored by professional writers and write new pieces in all three genres of poetry, fiction, and dramatic writing, as well as engage in critical peer reviews, and question and answer sessions with nationally-known authors. Gifts from generous donors have enabled us to award scholarships each year to teenage writers who would otherwise not be able to attend the program. Here's what one of those students had to say:
"I loved being here at Skidmore. The ability to be surrounded by peers and teachers who live and breathe writing was sweet. I learned a lot about myself as a writer and made exceptional friends who stayed up with me into the wee hours of the night, writing and laughing. It was an amazing opportunity to be able to work with published writers and hear them critique my work. This truly has been a life-changing experience."
Please consider sending your gift to help a young writer pursue their passion.
