What is a brownfield?

Brownfields are abandoned properties that exist all over the world. These sites are most prevalent in inner cities that were once home to strong economies that have soured over time.

EPA definition:

"Abandoned, idled, or under-used industrial and commercial facilities where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination."
