Crane Mountain, Fall 2006

Our first big Adirondack hike of the fall 2006 season. Crane is easily one of my favorite hikes in the Adirondacks. It has everything.

Here we are with our hiking buddies, the Morrisons, who also have a nine year old and twin 6 year olds.

Crane has lots of nice steep patches where you have to scramble up using your hands. It is about 1.4 miles with an ascent of about 1150 feet. We have all worked up a sweat and have taken off the jackets.

A great view from the summit. The glow necklaces are from Will's b-day party the night before.

A cool pond to swim, look for newts and frogs, and get muddy on the way down.

Towards the end of the hike, there is a stone bridge over a river. At the bottom, there is a cool cave where we told the kids a giant troll lived.

Helping out the beavers.
