Josh Hirsch and Big Spaceship

I was impressed by Josh's presentation and how candid he was about showing their process.
I loved seeing pictures of all the behind the scenes action, and was surprised by how they used very simple methods,
like cutting and gluing paper, to create something as visually complex as the Adobe Max visual (above).        Arielle Landsberg '09

It was very nice to hear Josh talk about Big Spaceship's unorthodox process, and I think their type of
collaboration will become more commonplace in the future. It was also fantastic to see that the best work in the
industry is a product of having fun-- fun seemed to permeate everything they do there.          Jon Schlossberg '09

It was eye opening to see an application of all of the skills we have been learning in Interactive Design.
Josh Hirsch didn't hold back in telling us everything about the company, how they work and the secrets to their success.
The focus they have on innovation and beginning projects and getting ideas from methods not on the computer is inspiring.
I love Big Spaceship.

Josh’s presentation awoke the creative beast lodged deep within my inner being. Now, my hungry soul craves for design
and technology and to be a part of a team that emits the creative aura.   Emeka Onyenwe '09

The importance of structure and culture within the workplace was the most important idea that I took away from Tuesday.
It occurred to me while Josh was speaking that getting talent in this industry is the easiest part of running a successful design firm.
The real challenge is getting that talent to work together in a way that they create work that is greater than the sum of their individual efforts. There's a synergy that is created when you strike the perfect balance between individual effort and collaborative thinking.
I hope to end up at a place that has struck this balance. Toph Brown '09

Conservative sources estimate that over 400,000 copies of Thomas Paines bookCommon Sense, published in 1776, were sold in that year. Taking a figure of 400,000 in a population of 3,000,000, a book published today would have to sell 24,000,000 copies to do as well. The only communication event that could produce such collective attention in todays America is the Superbowl.
