Students who miss an exam due to illness (the only valid excuse) must contact me in advance, or risk losing the privilege of taking a make-up exam.
Learning mathematics requires one to proceed by small steady increments, each based on what has been previously learned. One cannot "cram" for a mathematics exam and expect to learn anything. For this reason, attendance is mandatory. Your class attendance makes up part of the "class participation" segment of your grade.
This includes the recitation hour. Sometimes this period will be devoted to lectures, sometimes to answering questions from the homework. Either way, attendance is required. Bear in mind that MA202 is a course which carries 4 credits, not 3. Expect a corresponding increase in the time you should devote to the class (a good rule of thumb is 2-3 hours time outside of class for each hour spent in class, depending on how quickly you can learn the material.
