SSP100 045 - SERIOUS GAMES: CONFLICT, VOTING AND POWER

Fourth Hour Events

In addition to regular lectures, each Scribner Seminar will participate in 'fourth hour' events, which are curricluar or co-curricular events that supplement the classroom experience and/or the college experience in general. Here is a list of the events scheduled for this class:

  1. 10/5/09 - "What are Student Academic Services and Other Resources?"
Your peer mentor Emi will give you the scoop on various and sundry academic resources on campus.

  2. 10/12/09 - Video: Episode of the Numb3rs television series.

  3. 10/18/09 - Film: 13 Days, starring Kevin Costner

This Hollywood depiction of the Cuban Missile Crisis is pretty good. The date is Sunday Evening, outside our usual class time. Presumably at 7 PM in Emi's apartment in Penfield. The Monday meeting for that week, on 10/19, will be cancelled.

  4. 10/29/09 - "Review of the Registration process and running Degree Audits"
Another fun-filled day of useful facts from your Peer Mentor Emi!

  5. 11/5/09 - guest lecture on yes/no voting from Prof. William Zwicker, Union College.

  6. 11/9/09 - "A Brilliant Madness"
This Nova episode discusses the life and work of John Nash, the famous Game Theorist.
    Remark:
This will be preceded by an (optional) viewing of the movie A Beautiful Mind. Sunday, 11/8/09 at 8 PM in Emi's apartment.

  7. TBA
