Course Description
The course will comprise reading from the text, discussing that reading in chat sessions, and composing essays which bear upon that reading. Students will also comment significantly on each other's work.

Over the course of the semester, students will be expected to write a series of 5 essays, each to be posted on the bulletin board. (Essay length for most submissions will be minimum 750 words. The last essay will be at least 1,300 words.) After posting, each student will then compose a one-page, informal response to each other student's essay. Instructor will respond as well.
Week #1
Purchase Ideas and Details.
For next week, read chapters 1 through 6. (Omit practices & sundry
other small stuff.)
Week #2
Attend chat session (to be scheduled) to
discuss chapters 1 through 6.
For next week, read Chapters 9 and 10 (Description and Narration)
Week #3
Attend chat discussion of descriptive and
narrative modes of writing.
For next week: Compose decent rough draft of descriptive/narrative essay.
Week #4
By Monday morning: Post draft of your essay on Bulletin
Board
By Wednesday morning: Comment on others' drafts.
By Sunday morning: Read Chapter 7. Revise narrative/descriptive
essay and post on Bulletin Board.
For next week: Read Chapter 8
Week #5
Attend chat discussion of Chapters
7 and 8. Review comparison/contrast on page 53.
For next week, write a comparison/contrast essay.
Week #6
By Wednesday morning: Post
your comparison/contrast essay.
By Saturday morning: Post responses to other students'
essays.
For next week: Read Chapter 11 on informative writing.
