MDS for Mathematica 6.0
A few weeks ago someone asked for examples of the Multidimensional Scaling package for Mathematica. While I was at it, I updated the package to work with version 6.0 (and probably 5.2, but not tested). The old 4.x version remains here for those who need it.
Installation is simple, unpack the zip file and install in your system-wide or user Applications folder. (The examples assume the data is stored in the system-wide area, so you’ll need to tweak a few Import[]s if you put it somewhere else. The rest of the package should work perfectly fine however.)
Usage is pretty simple, there are basically two functions exported:
• MultidimensionalScaling[data,dimensions] - takes the dissimilarity matrix data and creates a state for dimensions dimensions. The data structure basically consists of {Stim Configuration, SVD Data, SVD Data, Stress}
•IterateMDS[state] or IterateMDS[state,times] - takes the state returned from MultidimensionalScaling[] and iterates it.
For examples, see the MDS Demo file in the Examples directory. That is all.
