A collection of eight historic radio shows done by Mel Lewis and Loren Schoenberg at WKCR-FM in New York, on or around 1989.
These shows originally began in 1982 and had become collected and trade by drummers everywhere. The station lost the original tapes so Mel and Loren decided to re-create them.
This particular collection came from Jim Rupp who, in turn, got them XXX. It was in the form of 19 CD-Rs that some brave soul had transferred from their tape copies. They are rather raw, there is noise, some of the tapes weren’t complete, &c. There is some tape printthrough, missing tracks here and there, some miscues, XXXX.
I have done my best to clean them up and tag them appropriately for use in iTunes or other music libraries. I have tried to preserve the spirit of the exchanges as best I could.
Loren has been nice enough to share some of the original tracks, so I will be slugging those into the collections after I get everything put up.
I will also explain why the files are AAC... and the fact that photos stolen from the Internets.
And- I did this because my Dad would have dug it.
