Get cash for
your textbooks! Unless you plan to keep your used books
for reference, why let them sit around in your basement
or attic? Sell the rest at Textbook Buyback and
get some extra spending money!
Textbook
buyback is the process of selling your used textbooks to
the Bookstore. Most of the books purchased at buyback
stay at Skidmore and are used in current or future
terms. If we don't need a book, we may buy it for a
national wholesaler for use elsewhere in the country.
The best part is that you will receive instant cash. The
amount you receive depends on the demand for the book.
The Skidmore Shop will purchase your
used textbooks for 50% of the new price if:
The book will be used next semester at
Skidmore and
The book is needed to fill current faculty
orders and
The book is in good condition with limited
highlighting
5% - 30% of new price
The Wholesaler will purchase your
used textbooks for 5 to 30% of the new price
if:
The book will be used next semester at
another school or
The books is needed nationally and
The book is in good condition with limitedhighlighting
0% of new price
Neither the Skidmore Shop nor the Wholesaler will purchase your used
textbooks if:
The
book will not be used anywhere or
The book is in bad condition
For
the best outcome, come early in finals week. When
the Shop has filled its quota, the wholesaler may
buy your book, but at a lower price.
Remember there is no guarantee that a book will be
purchased at buyback. It's that old supply and
demand rule.
If a
class is only taught one semester a year, you may
want to wait until the next end-of-term buyback to
sell your book when we are buying for that same term
the next year.
Take
care of your books, so they are in good condition to
sell.
