Lyell Canyon Trail

The next day we decided to hike toward Lyell Canyon on the John Muir Trail which is a short distance from our campsite at Tuolumne.

The first stream we crossed was the Dana Fork of the Tuolumne River.

Looking upstream along the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River.

Along the trail, we alternated between strips of woods like this and open meadows.

One of the high altitude meadows.

The reddish mountains are Mount Dana and Mount Gibbs.

The trail to the canyon was a lot longer than we thought. We ran out of time and had to turn around to get back before dark.

Return to the top.                                 Continue to the Next Part of the Trip.
