Parker Lake

Our third day on the east side we decided to take a hike to Parker Lake. We had discovered the road to the trailhead yesterday on the June Lake Loop.

The Parker Lake Road. The trail goes up the U-shaped valley.

About a tenth of a mile up the trail we looked back at Mono Lake.

Looking up the glacial valley toward Parker Lake.

About two thirds of the way to Parker Lake, we looked back toward Mono Lake.

Eventually we hiked along Parker Lake Creek. Yes, it was cold!

Parker Lake and a classical U-shaped glacial valley.

Driving back to the campsite , we had a beautiful view of Mono Craters, a volcanic field on the edge of Mono Lake.
The craters are volcanic cones made of pumice and obsidian.
