Lassen Volcano National Park

Summit, Terrace, and Shadow Lakes

We were camped on the shore of Summit Lake and thought we ought to hike the trail around it. It lies on the flank of Lassen. Terrace and Shadow Lakes are also on the flanks of the volcano, but higher up the mountain.

Lassen Peak across Summit Lake

We hiked down from the road to see Terrace Lake set in a tarn near the summit
of Lassen.

Looking back across Terrace Lake at Lassen Peak.

From the ridge at the outlet of Terrace Lake we could see Shadow Lake.

We hiked around Shadow Lake to look back at Lassen Peak.

After hiking to the lakes, we drove to the Sulfur Works.
The hot springs and vents were mined for sulfur in the past.

Return to the top.                                Continue to the Next Part of the Trip.
