Hypertext as a learning medium

The Hypermedia project at Brown University was one of the pioneers in the use of hypermedia in undergraduate education. Using Unix workstations, the developed hypertext courses that included interlinked text, images, time-lines, and even video sequences.

Brown's course evaluations contrasted hypermedia courses with traditional instruction. They found that undergraduates did not learn more information in hypermedia courses, but did develop a much greater appreciation for the many connections among the course concepts.
