Internet identities

This cartoon, originally published by the NewYorker Magazine in 1993, has become the most reproduced Internet-related cartoon because it aptly captures the anonymity of this new medium. It's early appearance served also as a barometer of the growing public awareness of the Internet as a communication medium.

You can read more about the author in the New York Times (subscribers only).
