Course Objectives

The objectives for EN 103: Writing Seminar I are as follows:

	To introduce you to the concept of a writing process and help you develop an effective, individual writing process
	To introduce you to the standards, expectations, and conventions of college academic writing
	To review and practice the basic principles of American English grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure
	To develop skills for effective analytical writing
	To practice composing effective thesis statements
	To learn and practice strategies for organizing your ideas in writing
	To practice developing your ideas in writing
	To learn practice using effective supporting evidence
	To learn and practice strategies for revising your writing
	To learn and practice the conventions for citation and documentation
