Words to ponder as you begin EN 103
" . . . there
are also bad students. By 'Bad Students' I do not mean students who get low
grades. Instead, I mean students who do not participate sufficiently in their
own education and who do not actively demand enough from their teachers. They
do not make the teacher explain the importance and significance of the subject
being studied. They do not go to office hours. They do not make the teacher
explain comments on papers handed back to the student. They do not take notes
on the readings. They just sit in class, letting the teacher do all of the work.
Education can only be a cooperative effort between student and teacher. By actively
participating in these and other ways, you play your proper and necessary part
in this cooperative process."
