The post, bracket (thanks, Bob!), and 8" X 8" frame for the platform on which the Upper Yurt will be built. There will be a Lower Yurt, walls and ceilings, etc., that will surround the Upper Yurt, providing living, dining, and kitchen space.
The completed frame, sitting atop four peeled logs (a maple, a pine, and two cedar) from the land. The platform is a 12' square (not many right angles in this building project!).

This is the "hub" of the platform, linking together the eight cantilevered joists.

The wall posts are set on the Upper Yurt platform.
The lintels are nestled between the tops of the wall posts.
Starting the roof, the ceiling boards are installed first.

The ceiling is now in place, and the ring beams are installed.

Six inches of foam insulation (R-39) is now installed between the ring beams.
Looking down the Upper Yurt roof at the oval slab for the Gallery and the 17' diameter studio. Note the roof boards on the Upper Yurt roof.
The roof sheathing is on, the cedar breather (the black stuff) is in place, and the shingling is started.
The wall sheathing for the Upper Yurt is being installed. Windows will be constructed in each of the 16 base-up triangles formed by the wall posts -- all the way around. The Upper Yurt is to be the bedroom, accessed by a spiral staircase. There will be a half-bath up there.
