Student Participation

1. Each week there will be a designated group of students responsible for submitting a question or discussion topic related to current class topics. (The topic could also be the media/popular treatment of the issues being discussed.) This will be done via researching electronic resources such as ethnic news and various internet sites, as well as other printed materials such as journals. A list of possible resources is included as part of the bibliography.

2. There are three short papers due on the 3rd, 6th, and 10th weeks of classes. These are 2 to 3 page critical papers that should integrate the readings or make reference to the topics presented by the groups in charge of discussions. They are due on Thursdays.

3. Mid Term Presentations are due on the 7th week of class

4. Final research papers are due on the 15th week of class

Grading Policy:

Class Participation: 15%

Three Short Papers 25%

Weekly Presentations 25%

Research Paper 35%
