Baseball Jacket was first popular in
1930s
The jacket known in our country as “baseball jacket” was referred to as letterman jacket, varsity jacket, or ball jacket in its homeland. Its origins and history are strictly connected with the development of team sports at American universities. In 1865, the best baseball team members at Harvard University were awarded with flannel shirts with the letter “H” sewn onto them. Wearing the letter representing the university on your breasts was a privilege reserved for the players who participated in the most important games of the season. If their level of playing was decreasing, they would have to return the flannel shirt.
