Invention
The first plastic bag (the sandwich bag) was introduced 1957 on a roll after propylene was first polymerized to a crystalline isotactic polymer by Giulio Natta as well as the German chemist Karl Rehn in March 1954. The large scale commercial production of isotactic polypropylene was first done by the Italian firm Montecatini.
