FAQs about the COVID-19 pandemic and Admissions
Yes. However, following national recommendations and executive order by New York State in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have moved to primarily virtual operations.
We do have a limited-capacity campus visit program for which you must pre-register. See the Visit page for details.
Beyond this, our virtual business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We’d love to talk with you. Please contact us!
Your academic engagement and work during this time matters to us. Given the circumstances, we recognize that many of you face obstacles to academic work. We will assess your academic achievements in the context of these obstacles. No student will be disadvantaged because of a change in commitments or plans because of this outbreak, their school’s decisions about transcripts, the absence of AP or IB tests, their lack of access to standardized tests (though Skidmore is test-optional) or their inability to visit campus.
That said, this is an all-encompassing, life-changing moment for people around the world, so to ensure we’re fully aware of your circumstances, we do encourage you to communicate any factors specific to the pandemic that impeded your academic performance. Both the Common Application and the Coalition for College application provide opportunities for you to describe how you have been impacted by the pandemic. This information will be treated completely confidentially.
Please alert the Admissions Office if you experience a disruption in completing your high school education due to COVID-19, so that we can support you in preparing to come to Skidmore. Call 800-867-6007 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are interested in transferring or applying to Skidmore, there are resources on our website that you can explore, including Admissions, information about majors and minors and Skidmore Athletics.

Virtual appointments with admissions counselors are available, as are virtual group information sessions and guided tours. You can also connect directly with a Skidmore student.
Please note that parents are very much encouraged to engage in these virtual activities.
The financial aid office is open for virtual business. Please feel invited to contact us with any questions or to arrange a scheduled conversation.
