Q&A with Royce Paris '17

Why did you decide to transfer to Skidmore?
I wanted a school that felt more like a family. I also wanted a school where I could explore more of my interests academically and athletically.
What does Skidmore offer you that your previous college did not?
Skidmore offers awareness and personal attention. At Skidmore, I have made many personal connections with faculty, staff, and students that feel more genuine than they did at my previous college. Skidmore also concerns itself with issues that are bigger than Skidmore.
What advice do you have for others considering transferring to Skidmore?
If you want a school where the faculty and staff care about your personal development as a student and as a person, then come to Skidmore.
Are you glad you transferred? Why? Why not?
Yes, I look back on it as one of the biggest turning points in my life. I had a good time at my previous college. However, I don't think I would have been able to get the most out of my college experience there. At Skidmore, I feel more involved and more appreciated.
What's the best part of Skidmore so far?
My favorite thing about Skidmore is the people who make up the population. I think Skidmore is rich in personality and diversity. I've been able to connect with people who are not always interested in the same things that I am. I think this is where true learning occurs. I've learned many new things that otherwise I would never have gotten the chance to experience.
What are your future hopes/plans?
Ideally, I want to play basketball professionally after college. Then I want to go back to school and study management consulting in an area of my interest.
