Registration now open for tomorrow’s Pfizer vaccination clinic

April 13, 2021

Dear Skidmore Students,

As President Conner shared yesterday, we are excited to be offering an on-campus vaccination clinic tomorrow, Wednesday, April 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Intramural Gym in Williamson Sports Center. The clinic has the capacity to administer just over 300 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine (in place of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine that was previously planned, due to updated CDC and FDA recommendations).

Appointments from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will open first and, if there is sufficient demand, we will be able to offer additional doses from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Pfizer vaccine is a two-shot regimen. The first dose will be offered tomorrow, and the second dose will be scheduled for May 3, 2021. Though the second appointment falls slightly earlier than the typical three weeks between doses, this timing remains in line with CDC guidelines.

This clinic is for members of the Skidmore community ONLY, and students will be given priority for appointments. Please DO NOT forward this information to others.

Students should check their email for sign-up information. Appointments will be filled on a rolling basis and are first come, first served. The sign-up link and clinic are administered by a New York state-approved vaccine administrator, Dr. Neal Smoller. All information provided through the sign-up link, including demographic information, is required by New York state and will be protected by Dr. Smoller in accordance with state and federal law.

The FDA has authorized the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in individuals 16 years of age and older. If you have previously received any doses of any other vaccine, you must continue with that regimen; you cannot switch to the Pfizer vaccine.

Please read the following instructions carefully.

What to do before your appointment

After you have received confirmation of your scheduled dose, which will arrive as an email from the Village Apothecary, you are required to certify separately with the New York State Department of Health that you are eligible for the vaccine by completing this form.

You must then:

  • Print the confirmation screen that New York state supplies to you
  • Write down your submission ID

You will be asked to give this proof to volunteers at the vaccination clinic.

What to do on the day of your appointment

You must bring the following with you to your appointment:

  • Photo ID with your date of birth.
    • Acceptable forms of ID per New York state include: a driver’s license or non-driver ID; birth certificate issued by a state or local government; current U.S passport or valid foreign passport; permanent resident card; certificate of naturalization or citizenship; life insurance policy with birthdate; or marriage certificate with birthdate.
  • Insurance information.
    • This is your Prescription Drug Benefit Card, which will have one or all of the following on it: RxBIN, RxPCN, RxID, and RxGroup. This may also be the NY Medicaid card for some. Your Social Security card or birth certificate can substitute for insurance information.
  • Confirmation screen printout from NYS certification (see above)
  • Skidmore ID

In addition:

  • Please wear a short-sleeved T-shirt or tank top. In order to accommodate larger numbers of vaccine administrations, the Intramural gym will be set up as open space without privacy screens.
  • We strongly recommend that you eat or drink something prior to the vaccination so you are not receiving the shot on an empty stomach.
  • Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior to your appointment. Please enter the Intramural Gym via the Williamson Sports Center sidewalk. Signs will be posted outside to direct you.
  • There will be a check-in table when you arrive, and volunteers will instruct you on how and where to proceed.
  • After receiving your vaccination, you will be asked to remain in the observation area for 15 minutes.

Finally, we understand that many of you are eager to get vaccinated. In the interest of equity and access, students who do not have transportation to other local/regional vaccine clinics, who may be returning home to limited vaccine availability, who will be returning home to a family member with medical issues, who are planning to travel or work in a setting where you need full vaccination status, or who face other accessibility challenges are especially urged to sign up quickly to ensure you can receive the vaccine on Wednesday.

Thank you for taking advantage of this special opportunity on campus – this is an important step in helping to ensure we can conclude the spring semester safely and successfully and protect the health and wellbeing of all.

Sincerely,

Cerri Banks
Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs
